Why doesn't Tony Snow get hit by lightning when he blithely says that this administration has been very careful about obeying the law?

Also, is anyone keeping track of how often he claims that the Clinton Administration did it too? Seems to be a very common theme.

This is an administration that is very careful about obeying the law. We take it seriously.

Tony is gonna get an extra circle deeper in Hell for that howler alone.

Q During the video teleconference did the President very directly express his impatience about the lack of political movement?

Hey, don't give Chimpy any movements, he will just fling them at you.

did anyone ask him about being caught lying by the daily show?

i didn't think so.

"This is an administration that is very careful about obeying the law. We take it seriously."

BWWWAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Can you say Valerie Plame? Who in the administration leaked her identity, anyway?

What about the time when Gonzales & Card failed in their attempt to strong-arm bedridden Ashcroft into providing legal authorization for their wiretapping scheme; when refused they instituted the scheme anyway, making it an illegal act. (They only later adjusted their scheme to make it legal, hence obtaining the legal authorization.)

Or authorizing the torture of prisoners in secret overseas camps.

Or hiding prisoners from the Red Cross, making them ghost detainees.

Or kidnapping foreign nationals off the streets instead of using legalized extradition.

Or setting up military tribunals for detainees without even the hint of due process. (You remember that slapdown by the Supreme Court, don't you Pony?)

Or installing secret rooms in the various phone companies and ISP gateways in direct violation of specific laws.

Or before that, when they bypassed the FISA court to institute wiretaps outside the law. And then did not keep Congress apprised of their activities as required by law.

And the law that says that all government communications must be saved, including apparently some 140,000 emails of Rove and his staff.

Or ensuring that, from the top down, laws are evenly enforced. For example Monica Goodling and her political litmus tests for apolitical positions; oh, and what about Gonzales trying to shape Ms. Goodling's testimony -- and then having the gall to not remember the same details 70+ times under oath; and what about the "caging" of minority voters, which involves both conspiracy and depriving citizens of the right to vote?

And, lets not forget firing U.S. Attorneys who've investigated Republicans, or didn't investigate Democrats, or could not find evidence of voter fraud, just to send a message to the other U.S. Attorneys.

Oh, and what about presidential signing statements. The president's powers are dilineated in the Constitution. The president has no powers except what are stated there.

Or, refusing to testify when subpoena'd by a senate or congressional investigatory committee -- investigating apparent crimes committed by YOUR administration.

Gimme a break, Pony. What you all take seriously is winning at any cost, and not getting caught.

P.S. When the president commutes or pardons Libby, who was working for the president, that will say that it's not just the administration generally operating outside the law -- it's Bush himself who is dirty, just like his old man wrt Casper Weinberger's lying to investigators.
