I have been watching Ken Burns program The War. I think it has been quite good....but not so for wingnut Dave in Texas at Ace of Spades as we learn in his post--"Fuck This" (subsequently changed to "Oh Fiddlesticks")
I've given Ken Burns a shot.
It's night two, and I'll be goddamned if he isn't STILL going on about internment.
Last night it was 1/4 to 1/3 of the program
Ah so about 50 minutes of the 2.5 hour program last night was on the internment? Were we watching the same program? Well no. Dave continues....
Last night it was 1/4 to 1/3 of the program (according to reports from friends, I admit I was flipping channels between the Bears/Cowboys and The War. I do that. I'm an idiot from Texas. But I did see several scenes last night on internment, even channel flopping).
OY. So Dave announced, with several FU's toward Mr. Burns, that he is giving up on The War to instead....
To hell with you. It's time for Titans and the Saints in HD, for this redneck.
Oh, and you were a pussy in Gettysburg.
Stay tuned. Tomorrow Dave says Fuck You to ESPN's Saints game announcers for talking-- STILL--in the 4th quarter--on how NOLA hasn't recovered thus making Dave conflate FEMA trailer camps with internment. Hmm..........OK but will he tell Jaworski he's a pussy for breaking his leg in St. Louis?

I feel dumber for having gone over there and read the post and comments. Really, really dumber.

Funny header, Scout ("Burns." Heh.) Gave me a much-needed chuckle.
But I'm confused? What's this guy Dave's problem> Internment didn't happen? It wasn't germane to the Sacremento portions of the narrative?
Burns' focus on Internment results in The War offering a skewed perspective on the war? And Dave knows this, how, from watching 3 1/2 hours of a fifteen-hour documentary? (Allowing time for channel flipping. Wasn't that Saints-Titans game a snooze-fest, Dave? I blame MoveOn.org.)
Where's the beef, Dave from TX? Don't like the show, don't watch it.

Huh. I had a good comment posted here last night, but Typepad eated it. And now I can't remember what it was.
Damn concussions.

Yes, I too hate it when there are two things that I want to watch on TV, but they are on at the same time. Flipping between the two is the only way to get a flavor of the two.
Damn.
If only there were some way of delaying the watching of one of the two to a later time; some method, perhaps of making some sort of "recording" of the sounds and images of one of the two programs, for later "review".
Oh, if only....if only....

That Japanese American woman made me cry. Her story was so moving. 60 years later you can see the hurt and the horror and the fear still.
I didn't watch last night; I'd invested 2 1/2 hours to the War, but 26 or so hours to Heros and had to watch the season opener. Yes, I feel shallow. But I will buy the dvd when it comes out.
I loved Burns on Olberman last week when he pointed out what a horrid war time commander Dubyas is.

Uh, Ken Burns had exactly ONE LINE in the movie "Gettysburg". I must admit, given wingnut Dave's pathetic attention span, I'm astounded he even caught that. As for "The War" - I'm taping every episode. It's another masterpiece for Ken Burns. As for what they think of the documentary over there in the virtual time-out room known as ASS OF SPADES well, I can't honestly say I give the slightest fuck.
