I'm always amazed when I see something like this that there wasn't at least one person, somewhere, beforehand, who raised their hand to say....Maybe this isn't such a good idea....and everyone realized how freaking stupid they were being to consider doing something so freaking stupid.
UPDATE: FEMA admits Their bad.
STATEMENT IN REGARDS TO FEMA'S TUESDAY PRESS BRIEFING
FEMA's goal is to get information out as soon as possible, and in trying to do so we made an error in judgment. Our intent was to provide useful information and be responsive to the many questions we have received. We are reviewing our press procedures and will make the changes necessary to ensure that all of our communications are straight forward and transparent.
SNIP
We can and must do better, and apologize for this error in judgment.

One of the first blog-based books, the anthology Special Plans examines Feith's role in misleading America into war. Buy from
Scout, you overestimate the Fox News audience. That group wants desperately to hear about all of the great things this administration has been doing. They most certainly will not question or doubt any of what they hear when it fills that need. So, let's just view this "news conference" as one more bit of aid to the Fox News audience. God knows they need help.

Does this remind anyone else of the old Soviet news coverage? What have we become?

I'm with you Scout. They've been caught doing this before. It seems like after they are caught doing it (remember the "honest" discussion with the troops??), they would realize that this is a secret that just won't keep.
What psychologically would make them discount the almost certainty that they would be caught again ???
BTW - it is old news now, but I just read Chimpy's speech about Cuba calling for the Cubans to riot, depose the government, and enjoy the shangri-la of Republican liberty. If I were to stand up and say this about America, I would expect to be arrested for incitement to riot - at a minimum, and very likely for sedition and even the Patriot Act. Why is it OK for us to say this but not for another country to say this about us ?
