"A man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest."

Unfortunately.

``I'm really not here to discuss public policy with you,''

It's not "public policy," is what's so insane. It's her husband. That's all public policy is. People's lives. It's not power, it's not a cudgel to beat on liberals, it's people's lives and you either make them better or you make them worse. That's all public policy does. That's it's purpose.

They don't get this, they never have, they never will.

Good for Mrs. Halley. Good for her.

A.

He gave her A SOUVENIR PRESIDENTIAL COIN??!!1??

Lord GOD a'mighty! However many days it is until 1/20/09 is waay too many...

OH NO SHE DI'INT!!!

Jack K., it is my most fervent hope that we are able to hold free elections next November so that we ARE able to see this disgusting excuse for a human being to the door and then give him a firm kick to the backside.
Even better - to see his sorry @ss impeached (along w/cheney) before elections...however I am sure that such a necessary thing as impeachment proceedings would 'trigger' the PNAC crowd's surely already planned 'terrist attack', el chimperador would declare martial (sp?) law and thus ensure he is "prezzidint fer lahf".
these are scary times indeed. add to that the blackwater threat...?!?! elspeth

Compare Chimpy's response to that of President Truman. Truman got the following letter from a father that lost his son in Korea, along with the young man's purple heart:

Nursery Rd.
New Cannan
Conn.

Mr. Truman

As you have been directly responsible for the loss of our son's life in Korea, you might just as well keep this emblem on display in your trophy room, as a memory of one of your historic deeds.

Our major regret at this time is that your daughter was not there to receive the same treatment as our son received in Korea.

Singed (sic)
William Banning

The letter was found in Truman's desk in 1972 at the time of his death. Truman kept the letter from his time as President, to his retirement in Independence, MO. -- more than 20 years. Bush can't pretend to care for more than 20 seconds, Truman couldn't forget for 20 years.

(h/t to YatPundit - see link)

i hope the republikkkans who annointed this shit of a 'human' PAY DEARLY!

Thanks, joejoejoe. Yet another reason I still adore Harry S Truman.

If ever there was a time for a knee to the groin...

Uh, sparrow,

Considering Shrub's level of courage, what makes you think a knee to the groin would hurt ?

Spitting on that miserable excuse for a human is too good for him. But I'd sell my soul for the opportunity.

As they parted, they shook hands, he kissed her on the cheek and gave her a souvenir presidential coin.

I'll bet that sociopathic fuck stays up at night wondering if that coin is gonna end up on ebay. What a piece of shit!

Hey, George,

If you think that's hostile, come around here sometime, without the Secret Service. I'll show you hostile.

This is very interesting. It reveals a masochistic side of Bush I've never seen even hinted at...

He actually let these women berate him, the first one for a good length of time, before he bid her adieu. At first I thought it was brave of him, as psychopathic as he is, to let these people into his bubble.

But it appears that they're his hair shirts, his self-flagellations. Isn't he brave to face these grieving women in his manly righteousness?

Argh.

Bush doesn't want our troops home. He is building his militia right here and when he declares Martial Law he wants no interference from the military. Keep them in the mid east and he can do what he wants to do using his militia. We already know how they operate, shoot first and ask questions later. Yet the only one who wants to impeach him of the presidential hopefuls is Dennis Kucinich. He is also the only one who cares more about the constitution and the people of this country than money. Are there really two parties? Since our congress is still rubberstamping I highly doubt it.

Bush will only use their hard questions as further justification to stay in Iraq. Everything is further justification for staying in Iraq: more deaths, less deaths, political success, political failure, everything!

When does he spring with the other 39 pieces of silver?

compassionate conservatism in full court press ....

Do his parents wonder ...

How do you sleep at night?

"You better see right through that mothers eyes
Those freaks was right when they said you was dead
The one mistake you made was in your head
Ah, how do you sleep?
Ah, how do you sleep at night? "

I seem to recall somewhere in our government's distant past that positions, such as the President, are elected public officials who are there to serve and report to us, the public, not the other way around. These elected officials have an obligation to provide answers and not to run and hide behind statements such as, "I am not here to discuss public policy". That statement in and of itself is ridiculous. "Public policy"......aren't we the public and have a right to know? I hope that there is a sincere effort and change in attitude, with the next group of elected officials at the federal level. I have not seen this much arrogance and callousness since the Nixon administration. January 20th, 2009 can't get here fast enough.

At what point do the state militias rise up and save us from these people that have taken over OUR government. Do I understand their purpose incorrectly? The time for a revolution of some sort is at hand. I pray a peaceful one will all thats needed.

I'd have that coin tested, if I were her. If it doesn't have some kind of monitoring device, it may be coated in polonium, or something. Or maybe it's just made of lead (made in China, perhaps?).

I wonder if Chimpy knew about this letter prior to that press conference some time ago. The one during which he suggested that history might judge him akin to Harry Truman.

Thanks joejoejoe

I would have handed the coin back to him and told him to shove it up his fascist, imperial war mongering ass.

If there is a Hell, that motherf**ker will burn it.

Truman is the only leader to ever drop an atomic bomb (twice). He is no hero

We have a psychopath in the White House. When are people going to wake up already. This is the guy who use to shoot frogs with his BB gun and also blow frogs up with firecrackers down in Midland, Texas along with his brother Jeb and others. This is also the guy who also used a hot coat hanger wire to your buttocks for initiating into his college club. When are the Democrats going to get a spine and Impeach this maniac in the White House. They would get a ground swell of support and a bigger majority in the house and senate. "We the people would get justice for everything this idiot has done" and we would get our moral authority back in the world. Oh! I forgot that Pelosi is do busy having coffee with the girls on The View. She and Reid are run by the hedge fund corporate interest and believe that the almighty dollar and relection is more important then "We the people". I may not be a constituent of Pelosi or Reid but I have to live with there cowardly leadership. Also thanks to the other 200 plus Democrats who sit with their hands doing nothing to get rid of the worst president ever in American history. Thanks for the memories.

Considering Shrub's level of courage, what makes you think a knee to the groin would hurt ?

Sigh! As a woman, I resent your insinuation that cowardice is a womanly characteristic. Bush is not a woman. No, he is the epitome of everything that is wrong with a failed male, cowardice, bigotry, miscegenation, bully, bastard, etc.

Posted by: MonkeyX | October 13, 2007 at 01:19

There won't be an uprising of State militias, as they've all been sent to Iraq already. That's why Blackwater was hired to 'patrol' New Orleans after Katrina.

I was hopeful when the Democrats won in the last election. They promised to end this terrible war.
Why won't they impeach this terrible president and vice president?
I was going to vote for Hillary but, since she has been brain washed by the president I am going to vote for someone who wants to stop this blood shed.
Ms.Clinton is too wishy-washy. The only thing she has going for her is Bill.
Wake up people, and vote for someone who wants to end this war.
I am worried about President Bush and vice President Cheany. I think they are war crazy and will bomb Iran or else get Israel to do it. Once that gets started who knows where it will end?.
Sincerely; Wanda Rinehart. Waskom, Texas. 75692

"I'm not here to discuss public policy." That was a telling statement. As far as Bush and his handlers are concerned, it's really nobody's business why we are in Iraq, why half the US Navy is parked off the coast of Iran. It's just business, and that's their business.

I think the reference to a kick to the groin not hurting Mr Bush was an insinuation that the man has no balls, not that he was really a woman. The last part of your comment was spot on, however.

That monster is a Skull and Bones Satan worshiper.

He does not care one bit about the troops dying...those are fake "acting" tears, for sure.

He killed 3,000 on 9/11, so why would he care about the
troops?? Just a means to his evil end.

Google videos: 9/11 Press for Truth, Loose Change 2nd Edition, Terror Storm, 9/11 Mysteries

No one can through to a man who's on a mission from God.

SO MANY OF YOU WHINEY PIECES OF SHIT ARE FUCKING POLITICAL OPPORTUNISTS. You dont care about the deaths anymore than Ted cares about Chappaqui-dick. If you truly cared about deathtolls, like at your own damn backyard to lessen vehicle related deaths which any 3 of 50 states will AMOUNT TO HIGHER deaths than the most "dangerous country on the planet!"

No, you just wish to push your agendas under the quise that you give a fuck about my brethren dying.

Cry your pussy-selves to sleep & slip away for all this nation cares because you only wish to weep for yourselves while butchering, raping and GENOCIDES were a fact of life abroad. Wake the fuck UP BLIND ASSHOLE COWARDS. How dare you condemn the man that has the fortitude to do what your puss of a candidate could not.
Were you rioting in the streets when your NY senator voted for war because she was too coward to voice what you wusses are "courageously" condemning on this site? NO, you did not; ...just tow the line, you pussies.
Man, you guys are misguided fucks. You deserve to be whipped cause you dont appreciate the liberties we have. Live w/ your misdirected hate, allow it to consume you - you pathetic wretches & cry yourselves into a fury cause there is no courage in your passion. Just bitching, w/ lack of nuts to man a post.

Bush tried to buy off the woman with a cheap souvenir coin, which is all a life is worth to him.
Meanwhile, his corporate buddies continue making millions of the real stuff.

Hey, Awakened Eyes...Blackwater is looking for people just like you. You seem the type who will gladly man his post and shoot his fellow American's down for glory and greastness of his Leader.

Sheeeesh...talk about misdirected hate consumed pathetic wretches...I bet you look hot in your brownshirt with crusefix armaband.

Awakened eyes....So why are we in Iraq? If there were no WMD's no Al Qaeda, why did we send our soldiers to die and killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's to "save" them?
You make no arguments. You don't even think. You just hate. You think you're brave. You're not. You're just stupid.

Awakened Eyes, You can enlist here:

www.Military.com/Army

or here:

www.goarmy.com

or Blackwater is here:

www.blackwaterusa.com

Have a pleasant trip.

Yeah, I agree with the other guy.

You have ZERO credibility when it comes to dead people so long as you march through hell to keep baby murdering legal.

Get back to me once you worked your way through that issue.

Big Daddy

"If there were no WMD's no Al Qaeda, why did we send our soldiers to die and killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's to "save" them?"

I don't know why not ask HILLARY CLINTON OR JOHN EDWARDS -two people you libs would vote for in a sec over a republican yet both are JUST AS RESPONSIBLE for what's going on in Iraq. Edwards called Saddam an 'IMMINENT THREAT' Sure, he says he's sorry. Now.

Hey Big Daddy...I'm firmly against baby killing. I had babies. My babies had babies. What civilized people are for baby killing? Now that that's straightened out, when are you going to reign in that murderous bastard you love who you put in the White House? Get back to me when you fix yourself asshole and become a human being. I won't hold my breath though.

And Awakened Eyes - if you ceased to exist, just at this moment, the universe would be a better place. Free advice - ponder that fact and repent your evil, stupid hateful ways. Life's too short to be a soulless bastard. Or don't change, I don't care. You don't matter either way and I shall never consider you or your thoughts ever again in my lifetime.

Finally, to the issue at hand. Mr. Bush is unable to answer questions about why we're in Iraq or what the mission is because he doesn't know. He knows he likes the feeling of wielding power over the powerless and doing things other people don't like and which hurt other people. This gives him pleasure but he doesn't know why. He can feel pain himself, which is why he avoids confrontation. Asking him to explain or empathize or consider is pointless because he is incapable of these things. He is a hating "machine" as it were.

Big Daddy/Awakened Eyes: Your hate speech and attempt to change the subject speak much more clearly of your mentality than that of those you try so weakly to insult. You demonstrate ignorance of the facts, ignorance of history, ignorance of those you are insulting, and a complete ignorance of any kind of civil debate.

Keep it up. Anyone who encounters your comments on the web thanks their lucky stars that they don't have to live around you, then thanks their lucky stars that they don't think like you. I personally always wonder if people like you are mean drunks or preppie kids trying to prove your manhood. Or are you College Republicans picking up an extra bit of change trashing discussion boards?

Anyway, keep it up. You trolls are a powerful recruiting tool. No one wants to go out and defend the likes of you, mAnn Coulter, O Lielly, Hennity, and Limpballs. No one wants to echo your ditto head idiocy. And you are irrelevant.

A-Eyes "I don't know why not ask HILLARY CLINTON OR JOHN EDWARDS -two people you libs would vote for in a sec over a republican yet both are JUST AS RESPONSIBLE for what's going on in Iraq. Edwards called Saddam an 'IMMINENT THREAT' Sure, he says he's sorry. Now."
News flash, troll, Bush sent the troops to Iraq, not Hillary or Edwards. Would they have done it if either was president rather than Bush? Not likely. Going into Afganistan was supported by everyone. Me included. We went into Iraq because Bush used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq and cherry picked the intelligence to justify it. Would not have happened without a preexisting Neocon adgenda to remake the Middle East. Get your head out of your @ss and do some reading.

Ditto, the more you hear about the ever nasty Mr. Bush, his truly criminal negligence with the August 6th briefing, and how he is just trying to get people's kids into a bodybag for criminal croynies and their big time war profiteering in Iraq, the more I think it ain't too smart to hand out cheap metallic slugs to bereaved family members – Bush sure is a narcissist, nasty little pig isn’t he?

Why does anyone allow that gross maggot to kiss them? I'm pretty sure it would make me phyiscally ill even to be in the same room with that unholy thing.

Posted by: Awakened Eyes | October 13, 2007 at 11:54 - "Man, you guys are misguided fucks. You deserve to be whipped cause you dont appreciate the liberties we have."
Talk about misguided. You don't see those rights you speak of being eroded. YOU need to open YOUR eyes. 'warrantless wire tapping', lying to get us into war. I bet you still believe Iraq was behind 9/11. Get a clue. It was schmuky bushs' buddies in Saudi Arabia. But of course we leave them the hell alone. IF you served then you have my respect. (I still whole-heartedly disagree with your premise) If not, then shut the hell up about manning a post. For if the later is the case then you should man a post in this war you so proudly support.

Posted by: TM | October 13, 2007 at 17:18

I would not vote for either of those fakes. If it came down to any of them or Ron Paul. I'd vote for Ron Paul. God willing Dennis Kucinich will prevail and we can have a true peace President.
KUCINICH FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Democrat? Republican? Try Republicrat

If you are serious about wanting to end this war, and prevent the next war, it's time to support a candidate who is equally serious. It's time to support Ron Paul.

A-Eyes: If the US had invaded Sudan to stop the rape and genocide there, you might have a better point, and we might actually know what we our volunteer troops are fighting for. (The mercenaries, well, like they need a cause.)

Hey, all: Glad to find you! There's a Dem who (A) actually has experience getting us out a war, and (B) has an articulated national initiative to help Americans actually participate in the oversight of and lawmaking in federal government. And the MSM is shutting him out Big Time because they dare not upset the Big Corporate applecart. Let's reject their pre-selected presidents. Let's bring back America. Let's bring Big Mike to the White House.

Like I posted a few before, I would vote for Ron Paul if he were the choice against Hillary, Barrack, or Edwards. But he does scare on his position on allowing the sale of fully automatic machine guns. (We have too many guns already.) As well as his stance on the idea of America being a Christian state which tolerates other religions and faiths. That is a quote of his from the daily show if I remember correctly. I have no problem with any religion more than the other. I just feel it should have no place in our politics. One doesn't need a religion or even a belief in god to have a conscience, or morals.

Vote Dennis Kucinich!!!!!!!!!!!
