disaster can hit wherever you are. how big depends. this was the governments.

A, thank you for this. I am going to send the link to a lot of people. Everyone needs to read the words you wrote.

This makes me sad, so very, very sad.

I agree with abo gato--this is very powerful, would make a great op ed in every paper in the country.

Great post. I have nothing to add to except what you said, needs saying. I'm in Houston (way north) and I-45 has been busy all afternoon but still moves at this hour. I've heard that there are no rooms in any hotels in Houston proper and outlaying areas. God bless and good luck.

Thank you. I've been down to New Orleans for the last several years, doing volunteer legal work over spring break, and this spring was the first time I felt at least ok with the city's potential future, despite a myriad of problems.

I hope hard that next spring will continue in this path.

Last I checked those drug addicts, drunks and others too poor to leave were still Americans and deserving of our help. Any citizen of this country who thinks otherwise should have their citizenship revoked.

I would add only one thing, A:
Think too about what you'd feel if it wasn't happening in New Orleans, or if 9/11/01 hadn't hit NYC and DC, but on your block.

Do you love a small furred life? Do you love another human? How then can you not understand anguish among those in this storm's path?

Thank you for this.
