And let's be frank. He might win it. This is clearly a testing time for Obama supporters. But I want to return to a point I made a few years ago during the Social Security battle with President Bush. Winning and losing is never fully in one's control -- not in politics or in life. What is always within our control is how we fight and bear up under pressure. It's easy to get twisted up in your head about strategy and message and optics. But what is already apparent is that John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest and race-baiting campaign of our lifetimes. So let's stopped being shocked and awed by every new example of it. It is undignified. What can we do? We've got a dangerously reckless contender for the presidency and a vice presidential candidate who distinguished her self by abuse of office even on the comparatively small political stage of Alaska. They've both embraced a level of dishonesty that disqualifies them for high office. Democrats owe it to the country to make clear who these people are. No apologies or excuses. If Democrats can say at the end of this campaign that they made clear exactly how and why these two are unfit for high office they can be satisfied they served their country.

I refuse to do it, do you hear me? I'm not nursing the Internet through another loss. I'm not making you nurse ME through another loss. No. NO NO NO NO NO. No. I refuse. I quit the Internet. I quit the world. I quit the sandbox. I will turn this whole blog around and you will go home and you will go to your rooms and you will all go to bed without supper.

I admit it. Lukewarm on Obama for months. Pissed at him for a good long while. Pissed at him about gay marriage, pissed at him about FISA, pissed at him for the parts of his fan club that suck ... whatever. Seriously, whatever. Go ahead and tell me later that you told me so, go ahead, if it makes you feel better. Go ahead and say whatever you need to say, because I'm done. Sod it. Done. He's getting money today. I'm sick of this shit. I'm sick of feeling helpless and freaking out. I'm sick of eating Cheetos and avoiding the question. I'm not doing this again.

In the department of credit where credit is due, I have to admit that the McWarpresident II/SaracudaBearPelt ticket will bring about change. It will be, after all, a change to nationalize 17th century Puritan Massachusetts theocracy. From what I've been seeing on the internets, McCain/Palin is a dead stick. The wingnuts have nothing but "mean to Palin!" and "liberals suck!" in their quivers, and they're running on fumes. No real support for McCain, no real faith in the Republican party, no meat on the bone.

One of my greatest frustrations is that I can no longer afford to continue the donations I have been making to the Obama campaign. It has come to the point where I will soon have to move again, to yet another cheaper place, to get enough money freed up to live on. Inflation is a bitch for retirees. I have to fight off my desire to send the campaign $100 every time they ask, and they ask very often. I just can't do it any more.

JimiRayBob - I agree. But I can't help but note that 4 years ago and 8 years ago, the candidate who said that he was going to bring change, restore dignity to the WH, balance the budget, etc. said all these things and then didn't do them.

I endorse this blog post. Firefighters have a saying "If your job is the can man, be the can man." It means shut up and carry the fucking water, you're not the chief....but it also means your job needs to be done so the best way for you to help is to do your job. Unless your name is David Axelrod or David Plouffe or you know somebody who talks to them on a regular basis it's not all that productive to rub out a metawank with only a handful* of weeks until election day.
