Today on Tommy T's Obsession with the Freepi - let the recriminations begin!

Good morning, everybody!
Well, the numbness has worn off,and the Freeperatis' wounds are beginning to hurt.
Let's suit up and pry the lids off some still-bubbling post-election anguish.

First up - former Fearless Leader gets off a good one:

Bush "I regret saying somethings I shouldn't have said"
CNN ^ | Nov 11 2008 | CNN.com
Posted on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 6:34:41 AM by rudman
"I am proud to be the commander in chief of people who are so selfless and so courageous that they would volunteer to serve our country in a time of war," he said. "I'm proud when I see people feed the hungry. I'm proud when I'm in Africa and see volunteers helping those citizens dying of HIV/AIDS."

"I remember the conversation I had with my predecessor Bill Clinton," Bush said. As a matter of fact, [I] called him yesterday and said, 'Bill, I'm getting ready to meet with the new president, and I remember how gracious you were to me. I hope I can be as gracious to President-elect Obama as you were to me.' ''

What about regretting NOT sayng things he SHOULD HAVE said?

Then, the Inevitable Freeper reaction to anyone who dares post anything that puts a crack in those rose-coloured Bush Goggles - even if it was on the front page of CNN and FOX:

Nice try newbie. Welcome to FR (two days ago). Now, tell us all. We are dying to know.
Are you in the Executive Office Building, the Old Executive Office Building, or the Republican National Committee basement?

Is that anything like the basement of the Alamo?

Bush said. "I really do wish him all the best. I am just as American as he is American..."

BS, Mr. President! I know you had to be deplomatic, but you didn't HAVE TO say this? Do YOU know where this "thing" was born???

In response to an earlier reply, one Freeper gathers the shreds of decency lying about and attempts to make a garment out of them:

"he is not perfect, and does not pretend to be - only Jesus Christ can claim perfection - he did keep America safe, even though many Americans at time did not deserve that safety."
That is his job, i.e., keep America safe. And the idea that "many Americans at time did not deserve that safety" is detestable. Every American deserves to be defended regardless of where they stand poltically. I suggest you read the Constitution.

Detestable??? Me thinks not. Traitors do NOT deserve the protection provided by a country they are trying to destroy. These are the folks being referred to. If you think these type of folks deserve the same constutional rights patriots and citizens enjoy you are on the wrong board. Try DU.

"George W. Bush was a class act till the end"

As someone who voted for him twice and contributed to his campaign, I wouldn't vote for him a 3rd time if he were running for dog catcher.

Bush is a new world order open border capitalist who helped engineer a 21st century global aristocracy.

Next up - Shepard's Pie!

Shepard Smith, A Giant Embarrassment For Fox News
Breitbart TV ^ | 11/12/08 | AJAY
Posted on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 6:32:11 AM by AJAY
Shepard Smith has long been an embarrassment for those of us who look to Fox News for reliability and intelligence. He always has been very unsophisticated and shows no sign that he does any homework to keep himself minimally informed. Study after study, including from liberal sources like the Washington Post and the Pew Foundation, have demonstrated the Obama bias of the MSM. He screams “preposterous” at his guest who points this out. Aggressiveness like his combined with a lack of intelligence is a witch’s brew.
For Shepard to know nothing about the MSM Obama bias is truly bewildering. What country does he live in? And to add insult to injury, the FNC Judge pipes up with support for this absurdity. I don’t really believe the Judge believes what he said in order to prop up an over-matched Smith.
With Brit Hume, as sophisticated as any contemporary journalist around, retiring from FNC, and Smith too dense to understand his own intellectual limitations, things don’t seem to be too bullish for the Fox News Channel. It’s truly sad.

I always pegged Shep as a liberal. This closes the case.
Ailes needs to move Shep’s show to say 3AM, following Red Eye.

Shame on John McCain for Not Defending Sarah Palin
Pajamas Media ^ | November 12, 2008 | Melissa Clouthier
Posted on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 5:56:09 AM by RobinMasters
After every failed campaign, the losers analyze the defeat with the hope of discovering What Went Wrong so the mistakes aren’t repeated. It’s a process that is absolutely necessary in order to learn and succeed in the future.
When the controversy started swirling before the voting had even commenced, mostly from moderate, ostensibly intellectual corners, the criticism seemed self-serving at worst and ill-timed at best. Many writers discredited themselves. Far from being foresighted (a blind man could see the direction the McCain campaign was going), they showed themselves to be opportunists with little restraint or moral courage in the face of almost certain defeat. Rather than do what they could to possibly stop the stampede, they spooked the horses.
That was two weeks ago. Today, it’s time for rigorous examination and assessment. And boy, are the McCain staffers, unchecked by John McCain, assessing. Here are some of their conclusions: They have decided that rather than specific failed policies (can anyone, anywhere, to this day articulate McCain’s plans for the economy?) or strategies (Mr. Nice Guy) or leadership (running around like a headless chicken and suspending the campaign to participate in doomed negotiations), the real problem was Sarah Palin. No rigorous self-examination. Instead, they did what the least savory sorts do: find a scapegoat.

John McCain is a spineless man with serious character flaws. All of his heroic service for his Country aside, he has absolutely nothing going for him. Romney, GOPers lick wounds on cruise

Winners, we all know from a lifetime of post-Super Bowl commercials, go to Disneyland.
Losers, at least in this election cycle, apparently go to the Caribbean.
As the Associated Press' David McFadden reports:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - When Joe Six-pack suffers a severe setback, he might cry in his beer. The Republican elite could be found this week on a Caribbean cruise after being stung in the Nov. 4 elections.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson joined policy analysts and 700 subscribers who want to revive the Republican Party on the cruise hosted by the National Review, a conservative magazine.
~ snip ~
"No one's jumped overboard," Fowler quipped as passengers disembarked in Old San Juan. "This is a forward-thinking group."
Thompson, whose own bid for the GOP nomination was short-lived, tersely answered a few questions from shoreside journalists before walking up the narrow cobblestone streets in shorts and sneakers. He called the cruise a family vacation, and said he is not planning another White House run.
~ snip ~
This cruise, the 21st hosted by the National Review, mixes leisure and politics, but Fowler said there are no panels about John McCain's running mate.
Most of the passengers booked oceanview and veranda cabins at $2,400 to $3,000 per person, according to the Cruise Authority, the U.S. company that arranged the trip. The ship is stopping in Turks and Caicos Islands, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Bahamas before returning to Fort Lauderdale, Florida this weekend.

Gingrich says GOP is outmatched
POLITICO ^ | Nov 13, 2008 | ROGER SIMON |
Posted on Thursday, November 13, 2008 9:22:11 AM by SLB
How bad off is the Republican Party right now? Ask Newt Gingrich.
“The Republican Party right now is like a midsize college team trying to play in the Superbowl,” Gingrich told me Wednesday. “It is pretty hard to say our losses were because of John McCain’s campaign. McCain performed way above plausibility compared to where the Republican president was in the polls. We have to look honestly at what went wrong.”
Gingrich, Republican speaker of the House from 1995 to 1999, declined say who he wanted as the next chairman of the party. He said his main concern was the rise of what he called the “modern left,” which just a few years ago was thought to be moribund in this country but now looks alive and kicking.
Gingrich said the fundraising capacity of the left in the last election proved astonishing and far outstripped what Republicans were able to gather. “The modern left has gotten that large,” Gingrich said.
The question now, Gingrich went on, is whether Barack Obama intends to govern from the left or not.
“Does Barack Obama want to govern from the center, which his Grant Park speech implied, or govern from the left?” Gingrich said. “Does he want to govern through (Harry) Reid and (Nancy) Pelosi or govern through a centrist majority, in which case he will get a substantial number of votes in the House and Senate but he will make the left unhappy.”
Gingrich said that the best thing the Republican Party could do right now is stop worrying about the Republican Party. “We need to worry about the nation,” Gingrich said. “Wal-Mart doesn’t get ahead by attacking Sears but by offering better value.”

Wal-mart doesn't get ahead by attacking Sears, but by importing cheap shit from China and turning its stores into serfdoms, but that's beside the point.
Let's see how this plays in Freeperville, shall we?

William Doyle, face of Vietnam crimes, dead at 75 ("My only regret is that I didn't kill more.")
Seattle Times ^

William Doyle, a tough-talking Vietnam War veteran who helped lead a decorated platoon that killed hundreds of unarmed civilians in a case concealed by the Pentagon for decades, died Thursday in Springfield, Mo. He was 75.
Mr. Doyle was a team leader on the Army's famous Tiger Force in 1967 when some members began executing women and children in a bloody rampage that lasted seven months.
Mr. Doyle bragged that he shot so many civilians that he lost count.
"We killed anything that moved," he told The Toledo Blade for a 2004 series. "My only regret is that I didn't kill more."
