Well, and really. Four years is not that long to be in a job that, let's face it, is quite taxing but is also not that much harder than, say, digging ditches or teaching sixth grade. Having David Letterman say mean things about your children sucks, but also ... sticks and stones. Nobody was asking Sarah Palin to walk point in Fallujah, for chrissakes.

Her claims that she cannot be effective in her job will be reason #1 she will never hold elected office again. They call her a fighter, but she quits when things get tough (in a relative sense, I guess).

I personally feel this has less to do with all the reasons raised by pundits and more to do with unfettered greed. I would speculate that she feels she needs to cash in on her 15 minutes while she can, unencumbered by ethics rules that prevent making oodles of cash while in office.

The truth in these matters tends to be less complicated and for more ugly than the punditry would like to believe.

Don't worry, Virgotex, there is no "highly ethical" soontobe ex or even ex-governor of Alaska. That state capitol's water has some weird chemical in it that nullifies ethics in those who drink it. (At least that's my theory about the absolute paucity of ethical politicians there.)

Gov. Full Metal Whacked is going to win the GOP Presidential nomination in 2012. She's going to have more money than Romney (small dollar donations from her minions) and more appeal to the foreign policy class of the Republicans than Huckabee. It doesn't make sense but at least 40% of the Republican base isn't reality based and in a 3-way nomination battle 40% wins.

Then she'll be crushed in the general. America doesn't want a First Dude who is a secessionist.

About 20 or 30 years ago a university got a grant to study what was the fastest way to determine and assess mental illness.

For some reason they sent psychology students to three or four separate state institutions under phony commitment orders and faking clinical symptoms. All were picked out as phonies within 48 hours by the real patients.

Why this wasn't used to develop a program of evaluation, I have no idea.

I'm nuts. Clinically documented nuts. The first time that I saw Palin speak, I thought instantly, "She's nuts." We nuts DO know each other.

I have a hard time believing that the usual fat-white-guy-in-a-funny-hat crowd that is the RNC will actually nominate a woman to the top of the ticket in 2012. If they tear out misogyny from the platform, what will happen to racism, homophobia, and xenophobia?

Misogynist white dudes in the GOP love Palin. They think she's a MILF and it gives them a hard on when she talks about starting wars. She's got 30% of the GOP primary voters on lizard brain metrics alone. People like Josh Marshall who are arguing that Palin is too damaged politically are like nutritionists arguing a Monster Thickburger isn't healthy. Ah...no shit. There is no such thing as too damaged if you are running up big poll numbers playing the victim. Mitt Romney calling her a quitter and the NYT agreeing with him is worth $2M in fundraising and bump in the polls among likely GOP voters. She's got zero chance among independents and Democrats but there is no reason Palin can't be Goldwater 2.0. Minus the ideology plus some Jerry Springer.

Talked with my neighbor this afternoon: a genuine tea-bagging, pro-Palin type. He said that she is being smart by preparting early to enter the election. The problem with McCain was he didn't know which side of the fence to come down on.

In short, McCain was the full reason they lost and moosejaw had nothing to do with it. She's coming back - ??just like elvis ??
