Seriously, Pelosi 2016, if not actually 2012:
At a private caucus meeting Thursday morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told her members that if Obama's serious about putting Social Security on the chopping block, he'd left her in the dark about it. And after an at-times-contentious meeting about how open Dems should be to significant entitlement cuts, leaders departed to the White House to read Obama the riot act.
And okay, maybe not telling Nancy means this is all just theater and horseshit and trial balloons and whatnot, and nothing actually is going to happen to Medicare and Social Security, because if Obama really was serious surely he'd have talked to, you know, the most powerful Democrat in the House.
However, the semi-pro pessimist in me says this is just one more example of fucking amateur hour and in case nobody's noticed the world is burning down out here. We could use some adults around. Mercifully, we seem to have Nancy.
"You [asked], 'could the changes compromise the vote?'" Pelosi said at a Thursday afternoon briefing near the House chamber. "I said yes."
That's FUCK YES, Madam Minority Leader.
A.

Has she ruled out voting for a chained CPI?

I just hope that it's just "theater and horseshit" and Obama actually has half Pelosi's balls when he's at the bargaining table.
"There's only one deal: We go 50:50 on this -- cuts and tax increases. We piss off our base, you piss off yours. Debt ceiling get raised, we move on."
That's compromise. That's business. Even our Galtian overlords from The Streets (K and Wall)should be able to fathom that.
You don't cater to the crazies for the sake of catering to the crazies. If that's your base, then boo-fucking-hoo for you, Orange Man.

Bullshit! She'll cave to GOP demands just like every other chickenshit Dem on Capitol Hill. I'm seriously thinking about voting straight-ticket GOP in 2012 because the only way to change this system is to burn it to the ground.

Better yet, Sandman, start chugging a fifth of Tito's vodka, swallow a handful of Percocet, and take a nap.
That'll show 'em!
I believe this shit will resolve with "kiss-your-sister" ending. Ain't nobody gonna be popping corks and bragging, but the debt ceiling will be lifted substantially and some sacred bovines will bruised a bit.
Or, the GOP whackos will manage to crash the world economy. If they shit that bed, even the craziest of crazies will know who was responsible.
When the dust clears after the nest Depression, John and Jane Galt will be dreaming wistfully of that 37.6% top marginal tax rate.

Well, I have absolutely no trust in Obama at this point to look out for the 99% of us who are not already set for life.
Actually, I take that back. I ABSOLUTELY trust that Obama is doing exactly what he and his GOP friends want to do. This is why I know no one under the age of 40, and quite a few above it, who think that Social Security will be around when they retire.

People forget that she is the one who saved Obama's fucking bacon when Scott Brown got elected to the Senate from MA. She had to get the entire House to do the Senate's work for them so that the President could pass a health care bill. For her troubles she lost the gavel, got cut out of the budget deal, and got cut out of the Bush (now Obama) tax cut extensions. Obama is either a shit poker player, a closet Republican, or he has a fetish for moron advisers.

Nancy CAVE: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20077942-503544.html
"For the first time today, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi did not rule out changing the way the government calculates annual cost-of-living adjustments for Social Security recipients. The possible change, adamantly opposed by progressives in the Democratic caucus, could make payments to retirees smaller."

most likely she's just royally pissed that he didn't tell her. and for his part, if he were NOT serious, he would surely have let her know that. he doesn't need her, and she knows it. whatever he's up to, that was a big slap in the face. (yeah, i don't believe in her, either.)

Oh, he fucked up. He ain't the boy king. He's a fuckin politician.
Nancy has power (thank Dog) and she will wield it.
Politics, brah. Welcome to it. Obama is Clinton. Get done what u can. Still too many butters out there to get perfection!

They can't get this done if she organizes opposition. I wonder if we are looking at another vote of "present" on the part of Dems.
I'd like to see that again.
