Good morning, gentle people - Herman Cain threads have been accumulating like cobwebs in a Freeper's PC, so let's do some catching up. We'll start out with a recent thread, then go back in time, when the Godfather of Godfather's was the anchovy in the GOP list of ingredients.
First up, it's - Losing Dennis Miller!
Dennis Miller withdrew his endorsement of Herman Cain
Wednesday November 16, 2011Posted on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 8:06:25 PM by Bigtigermike
On the O'Reilly Factor tonight...Dennis Miller stated "I'm off the Cain Train." after endorsing him and helping Cain do a few fundraisers a couple of months ago.

To: Politics4USSo when he endorsed Cain you posted not to trust him??
To: ontapSo strange, that a candidate doing so well would just all of a sudden implode like that.
It almost seems like some sort of set-up. Sadly, I wouldn’t doubt if it was.

“Likely”
You thinkk he set himself up? I don’t understand. Do you think it was the Bimbos, the no idea wtf he was talking about or the dawning that he REALLY was in over his head?
Seriously, not trying to be a wise guy...don’t you think it was all of the above that sank him?

He was a liberal.

To: Reagan ManWell, the way I read it, Miller was a “f’ing liberal” for withdrawing his endorsement of Cain. Whatever...
But really, any freeper that gets their opinions from a radio host needs to have their head examined. Why? because its all infotainment. The host is there to sell soap and quite frankly, if that host can no longer sell soap, then they will be replaced with a monkey playing a kazoo—as long as that monkey could push the soap!
When the monkey is no longer up to the task, then they will be replaced with a Moose banging on a cowbell!
And when the moose no longer sells the soap, well then it will be replaced with a goldfish singing tiny bubbles....as long as they sell the soap...

Cain: House Republicans should fund FEMA now, worry about offsets later
The Hill ^ | Monday September 26, 2011
Posted on Monday, September 26, 2011 11:57:44 AM by Bigtigermike
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain — fresh off a surprise victory in the Florida straw poll that has re-energized his campaign — broke with House Republicans on Monday and urged Congress to fund the Federal Emergency Management Agency's disaster-relief program now, regardless of whether they can tie budget offsets to the bill.
"I would make sure that FEMA got the money it needed, and if I had to go find the offsets later, go find it later. Stop playing with people's tragedies — these are real people we’re talking about," Cain said on CNN.
Cain argued that keeping the disaster programs funded now was more important than finding the immediate cuts, and suggested an agreement that would keep the program from becoming a "political football."
1 posted on Monday, September 26, 2011 11:57:53 AM by Bigtigermike
To: BigtigermikeI disagree. Every time we reach a decision point where cuts are the right thing to do, the Democrats scream and stamp their feet. They just want to keep running up the credit card and never take responsibility for dealing with the out of control spending. Stand your ground GOP. Force the cuts. We don't have unlimited credit...To: Carry_Okie"insurance industry to manage competing risks"Most Freepers are probably too young to remember the pre-FEMA time when "insurance" was how these disasters were handled.

To: BigtigermikeI see what he is doing. The Dems are using this as a weapon so he is advising to take the weapon away from them while keeping our side of the issue on the table. Interesting strategic move.
To: bvwAnd I agree with Patrick Henry. So what? If the GOP wants to run on eliminating disaster relief, they should let everyone know and we can have that debate.
Yeah.
That'll happen.
In the meantime, they’re playing games.
Cain aide wrongly insists they've 'confirmed' accuser's son works for POLITICO (Is Not Related)
Politico ^ | 11-8-2011 | Maggie Haberman

Herman Cain campaign manager Mark Block, in an appearance with Sean Hannity on Fox News just now, insisted that a relative of the second woman to publicly accuse the candidate of sexual harassment in the 1990s works at POLITICO.
"Her son works at POLITICO," Block said of Karen Kraushaar, whose name POLITICO printed earlier today after other media outlets made her identity public.
Continue Reading "I've been hearing that all day - you've confirmed that now?" Hannity asked.
"We've confirmed that he does indeed work at POLITICO and that's his mother, yes," said Block.
Block appeared to be referring to former POLITICO reporter Josh Kraushaar, who left for another outlet, National Journal, in 2010.
Josh Kraushaar tweeted earlier in the day, apparently after getting questions, that he's in fact not related to Karen Kraushaar, and simply has the same last name.

Brutal: Cain blanks on Libya, supports collective bargaining for public employee unions
Hotair ^ | Monday November 14, 2011
Posted on Monday, November 14, 2011 4:59:28 PM by Bigtigermike
You won’t believe me until you click play but this is much worse than Perry’s brain lock at the debate last week. Perry lost his train of thought; Cain doesn’t have a train at all here, to the point where he needs confirmation from the interviewer of what Obama’s position on Libya actually was.
Eventually he produces some boilerplate about not supporting the opposition until you’re sure who’s in it and of course not making a decision as president until he has all the information, which is a standard Cain fallback talking point whenever he gets in trouble on a question, but the first two minutes or so are pure agony. The board actually took pity on him, I think, by not following up.
And that still only barely qualifies as the worst answer he gave today. Here’s what he told them when asked, predictably enough, about Scott Walker’s righteous crusade against public employee unions:
"On the issue of collective bargaining, Cain said he supported the right of public employees to bargain collectively." But not collective hijacking. What I mean by that, if they have gotten so much for so many years and it’s going to bankrupt the state, I don’t think that’s good. It appears that in some instances, they really don’t care.”…
Cain also appeared to be unclear on the issue of collective bargaining as it involves federal employees. Asked if he thought federal employees should have the ability to bargain collectively, Cain said: “They already have it, don’t they?”

To: BigtigermikeCain has made a lot of gaffes, especially on foreign policy. This will be used against him should he get the nomination. The Dem ads will show clips of him making erroneous statements and say he’s unprepared to be President.
Don't worry - you can have Breitfart and his pimp O'Keefe come on TV and complain about "creative editing" and being taken out of context. That should be pretty chuckalicious.
I like Cain but I want a winner, and I’m beginning to think Newt may be the guy. Nobody on the stage knows policy as much as him.
..To: SignalmanI always liked Newt and I am beginning to think that he is the go-to guy. I am worried about how the media butchered him back in the 90s.
14 posted on Monday, November 14, 2011 5:18:29 PM by Blood of Tyrants (Never believe anything in politics until it has been officially denied.)..To: Blood of TyrantsNope. Newt has too much baggage. Forget the personal issues. He supported health mandates, like Obama. He was on the couch with Pelosi...not good for the smartest man in the room. And, he took money from Fannie and Freddie. The Dems will hammer him on this.
..To: BigtigermikeJeez Louise! The guy had total brain-lock--far worse than Perry on a far more important topic. At best, the Cain looked like a student who has been cramming to pass an exam and who's brain is suddenly overloaded with all of the information he's been trying to learn to pass--he even said as much when he said ". . . got all this stuff twirlin' around in my head . . ."
Being President isn't like trying to pass a test, you have to have a formulated policy framework already fully developed. As we have seen from Obama, there's no room for on the job training--from ground zero--you have to have a substantial body of working knowledge from day one or you start out too far behind to catch up.

Herman Cain: “I’m not supposed to know anything about foreign policy” (WATCH VIDEO) Hotair ^ | 11/16/2011 | AllahpunditPosted on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 7:37:12 PM by SeekAndFind
I can’t tell if he’s joking or not, which is a recurring theme lately in some of his pronouncements about foreign policy. He was joking, I think, when he said he’d offered to make Kissinger secretary of state again. He wasn’t joking, I thought, when he answered a question about whether his grasp of foreign policy is too slight with “9-9-9,” although the Standard’s John McCormack theorized last night on Twitter that maybe he was actually saying, “Nein, nein, nein,” in which case he was joking. The fact that we’ve reached the point where no answer is too goofy to be instantly ruled out as non-serious seems … problematic.
Cain brought up the GOP debate on foreign policy two days earlier.
“That’s a tough subject. You don’t want to get your facts mixed up,” he said.
He defended his view that presidents and presidential candidates don’t need to be immersed in the fine print of world affairs – they simply need to be leaders who can surround themselves with the right people and sift through their advice.
“I’m not supposed to know anything about foreign policy. Just thought I’d throw that out,” he said, a dig at his critics.
“I want to talk to commanders on the ground. Because you run for president (people say) you need to have the answer. No, you don’t! No, you don’t! That’s not good decision-making,” said Cain.
Is he being sarcastic in his use of the word “supposed,” as if to say, “If you listen to my critics, they’ll have you believe that I don’t know anything about foreign policy, but of course they’re wrong”? Or is he honestly saying it’s okay for a would-be C-in-C not to know much because, after all, he’ll have plenty of advisors and generals to steer him once he’s elected? Gingrich, for one, appears to think it’s the latter, telling Laura Ingraham this morning in response to what Cain said that “I think it’s fairly important in a dangerous world to have a president who knows something about foreign policy.” (Important, but not disqualifying: As of yesterday, Newt was still open to a Cain/Gingrich or Gingrich/Cain ticket.) Evidently there’s no video to help us judge, so in lieu of that, via the Right Scoop, here he is elsewhere today reiterating that he might not know everything but he does know how to surround himself with smart, capable people. And below that, via RCP, a harmless yet irresistible clip of Cain wondering how to say “delicious” in “Cuban.” I’m pretty sure it’s the same as in “Mexican.”
