Niner player opens mouth, inserts foot at Super Bowl media day:
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver has reportedly made inflammatory comments regarding homosexuality in football just a few days before Super Bowl XLVII.
Shock jock Artie Lange revealed he had interviewed Culliver at media day Tuesday and aired a segment on his show that night, where the player insisted that any gay players would not be welcome on the team.
I don't do the gay guys man," said Culliver, whose Niners play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do."Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can't be…in the locker room man. Nah."
When quizzed by Lange whether any homosexual athletes would need to keep their sexuality a secret in football, Culliver responded: "Yeah, come out 10 years later after that."
Yo, dude, your team has many gay fans, and the odds are that you have at least one gay team mate. I'd avoid Castro Street if I were you...

Why do I want a flash mob of drag queen cheerleaders to accost them during the pre-game facilities?

And putting this in context of an athletic event where stereotypical sexual behavior is the norm on the field (bunch of men slapping each other on the rump on national TV), could I wonder if he is overcompensating ?

Of all the stupid shit to say... It was like he heard Joe Flacco's "that's retarded" comment and said, "Hey, we got stupid assholes on this team too! I gotta game up!"

Every time I hear some dumb jock say something like that, I think of my favorite smart jock, Mike Mussina, who years back in an article speculating if baseball was ready for someone to come out, said that if you just look at it statistically, any ball player who thinks he has never had a gay teammate is kidding himself. I think it was around the time of the whole "Is Mike Piazza gay?" media circus in NY.
