it's like they're competing to see who wins the asshole prize...or should I say the Golden Santorum?

One of the commenters over at Balloon Juice said that the analogy doesn't work, because, unlike Obamacare, the Republicans supported apartheid.

Saw some comments on another site which reminded me that the repubs have been after Mandela since at least Reagan. And Cheney said he was a terrorist.

This actually makes sense (hear me out on this). The modern Koch Brothers Tea Party is a descendant of the industrialists circa 1930. Likewise, the Bankers are descendants of the bankers 1930. GWB and GHWB are descendants of Prescott Bush. What do these groups have in common ? They all supported the Nazis in the 1930s - complete with their little solution for racial impurity. I'd also add that many of the medical establishment in the 1920s and 30s were intensely interested in eugenics. In Germany, the profession which had early on had the largest percentage join the Nazi Party - Doctors.

Obviously, Mandela fought racial inequality and an oppressive system which kept those of color from any participation in the economics of the country. Nazis would have hated him.

so hope he is the GOP nominee. big sleeves.

It's Christmas. You've seen the ads shot in that kid's hospital room: "If just one child dies from the lack of timely health care, then our fight against the ACA will have been worth it." It always brings tears to my eyes.
